Weed Hosts of the Lygus (Heteroptera: Miridae) Bug Complex in Central Washington

Abstract
Lygus bugs were swept from a variety of plant hosts in the Yakima Valley and Columbia Basin in Washington. Collected adults were identified to species, and nymphs were reared to adults for identification. Lygus elisus Van Duzee was the predominant species on weedy crucifers, chenopods, and composites. L. hesperus Knight populations predominated on volunteer alfalfa, the major weed legume. L. desertinus Knight occurred as a small proportion of the lygus bug population and generally in close association with L. elisus.
