The Passive Transfer of Immediate Type Hypersensitivity from Man to Other Primates *

Abstract
Total antibody sensitization of monkeys occurs with sufficient passively transferred human allergic serum. Cutaneous, respiratory, and anaphylactic reactions can be studied with this model of human hypersensitivity. The symptoms, blood histamine levels, and pathologic changes in the passively sensitized monkey can be compared with a similar type of reaction in the dog. Microscopic pathologic changes occurring in anaphylaxis in monkeys sensitized by human allergic sera were acute pulmonary emphysema and arteritis, focal necrosis, and focal hemorrhages in the myocardium.[long dash]Authors.
