Abstract
The results of a band-structure calculation for metallic lithium using the Korringa-Kohn-Rostoker method are presented briefly and a model for capital Sigma, Greek(small kappa, Greek) is obtained. This model is used to estimate the effect of the distortion of the Fermi surface on the values of the elastic constants c11 - c12 and c44. The results obtained for c11 - c12 and c44 were 0224 and 111 dyn cm-2 respectively. Keywords
