A Method for Measuring the Complex Magnetic and Dielectric Material Parameters of Microwave Ferrits

Abstract
The described method allows the simultaneous determination of the permittivity and the elements of the permeability tensor employing a single, easily produced ferrite sample, which is situated in a cylindrical cavity. It is shown how the complex material parameters can be calculated from the measured resonant frequencies and Q-factors of three different dynamic modes occuring in the test cavity. For these calculations, the use of formulas resulting from model conceptions is not required for the determination of the tensor elements. Furthermore, the design of the computer-controlles measuring system is described and experimental results are presented.
