Abstract
As the online database industry expands and matures, competition increases and the need for data to assist in strategic planning increases. Database producers, online vendors, telecommunications carriers, publishers, and venture capitalists are looking closely at the progress, trends, and changes in the online industry as a whole in addition to monitoring specific markets, specific competitors, and fast‐moving components of the industry. The Information Market Indicators (IMI) survey provides a service by monitoring online vendors, database producers and specific databases in terms of the revenues generated and in terms of the number of connect hours of usage. In addition, IMI data permits one to observe markets and competition relative to database subject classes, user classes and geographic regions. Keywords
