Studies on antiatherosclerotic agents. VIII. Synthesis and structure-activity relationship of 4-hydroxymethyl-1(2H)-phthalazinone derivatives.

Abstract
4-Hydroxymethyl-1(2H)-phthalazinone derivatives were synthesized and assayed for their inhibitory effects on platelet aggregation and edematous arterial reaction in rabbits. Among the tested compounds, 7-ethoxycarbonyl-4-hydroxymethyl-1(2H)-phthalazinone showed the highest potency in these pharmacological tests. The structure-activity relationship of phthalazinone derivatives and related compounds is discussed.
