Abstract
A new version of the fast bolometer for the plasma energy transport study in plasma confinement devices is described. The bolometer represents a modification of the pyrobolometer described in Rev. Sci. Instrum. 64, 2761 (1993). The described bolometer uses crystals of LiNbO3 as the sensors. The new design incorporates a small coil for magnetic field measurement and a rigid, electrostatically shielded enclosure for the pyrocrystals, which at the same time does not affect the coil frequency bandwidth. The frequency response of the coil is measured to be in the 150‐kHz range. Details of the design and calibration are presented. Keywords
