Pregnancy Following Transcervical Transfer of Oocyte and Sperm

To the Editor: In 1982, Craft et al.1 reported on the transfer of an oocyte and spermatozoa into the uterine cavity on the day of laparoscopic oocyte collection after stimulation with clomiphene citrate. Two of 31 patients became pregnant. In their study only one oocyte per patient was transferred. Not all patients had bilaterally occluded tubes. Spontaneous ovulation of residual oocytes and normal fertilization in the patients who became pregnant therefore could not be ruled out. We report the occurrence of two pregnancies after ultrasound-guided transvaginal follicular aspiration and transcervical transfer of oocyte and sperm in women with bilateral tubal . . .
