Abstract
The effects of introducing new varieties and bacterial strains upon the epidemiology, ecology, and control of Xanthomonas phaseoli and X. phaseoli var. fuscans in registered bean seed crops in southwestern Ontario between 1961 and 1968 are described. A new phage type of X. phaseoli, Ib, is reported. Problems related to plant introductions and the detection of seed-borne pathogens are discussed.
