Abstract
An inexpensive and easy-to-build vacuum furnace capable of reaching temperatures in the 1000°C-1350°C region (with modifications the upper limit can be extended) at pressures of 10−7 torr has been constructed. This furnace has been found to be very useful in the preparation of melts where sample purity and safe working conditions are considerations. Keywords
