Abstract
A study was made, of 14 acromegalic patients, to correlate the fasting plasma HGH (Human Growth Hormone) concentrations with other indices of activity, such as plasma inorganic P level, BMR (Basal Metabolic Rate), glucose tolerance test, and clinical impressions. Neither plasma inorganic P level nor BMR had a correlation with the plasma HGH concentrations. Clinical impressions of activity were in relatively close agreement with the plasma HGH concentrations. Association of diabetes mellitus was not related to either fasting plasma HGH concentrations or the duration of disease. The results of urinary HGH excretion and non-suppression of plasma HGH concentrations following 100 g glucose administration are also discussed. This publication has 1 reference indexed in Scilit:
