Abstract
National standards for diabetes patient education programs have been endorsed by the National Diabetes Advisory Board. These standards were developed under the auspices of the Board and in collaboration with the American Association of Diabetes Edu cators, American Diabetes Association, Centers for Disease Control, Diabetes Research and Training Centers, International Diabetes Center (Minneapolis), Juvenile Diabetes Foundation, and National Diabetes Information Clearinghouse. This statement presents the rationale for the standards and a plan for their implementation. It includes a summary and de scription of the standards and a tabular presentation for easy reference.
