Abstract
The authors present a constructive method for the direct analysis of power system transient stability. The method contains two procedures. The first procedure is to find the controlling unstable equilibrium point for a given fault-on trajectory. The second procedure is concerned with the modification of energy functions for the postfault system. The method is distinguished by reliability and an ability to reduce the conservativeness in the direct analysis of transient stability. This method has been tested on a 118-bus system with promising results Author(s) Hsiao-Dong Chiang Sch. of Electr. Eng., Cornell Univ., Ithaca, NY, USA Bih-Yuan Ku ; Thorp, J.S.Keywords
