Abstract
The low-temperature high-field heat capacity of a Ce single crystal was found to develop an anisotropy for T with the magnetic field parallel to the [100] and [110] directions. The magnetic susceptibility of Ce below 5 K was also anisotropic with by ∼ 5% at 1.8 K. For the first time ever an anisotropic quenching of spin fluctuations in any highly enhanced paramagnet has been observed.
