Abstract
We have determined the effect of uniaxial stress on the magnetic transition temperatures of gadolinium, terbium, and dysprosium. The problem of stress homogeneity has received particular attention. From the variation with stress of the Curie (Gd) or Néel (Tb, Dy) temperatures, spontaneous magnetostriction in Gd, Tb, and Dy is quantitatively interpreted. This publication has 21 references indexed in Scilit:
