Abstract
The effec-tor muscles of blinking have been studied using electromyographic technics. A rapidly acting, well-controlled, reciprocal relationship of orbicularis oculi and levator palpebrae superioris is characteristic of the normal state. This refined mechanism often remains relatively intact in the presence of gross neurologic deficits. Thus far in our studies, disorders usually attributed to disease of the motor unit have shown the greatest abnormalities. Keywords
