Abstract
The manganese spin excitations in the system Fe1-xMnxCl2 have been investigated by microwave absorption techniques. Spectra obtained at low Mn concentration (x=0.005) enable the authors to deduce the effective spin-Hamiltonian parameters of the Mn2+ impurity and in particular the dominant exchange coupling constants between Fe-Mn spins. At higher Mn concentration (x<or=0.25) a new Mn-Mn pair mode appears. Comparison of the energies of this pair mode and of the single-ion impurity mode leads the authors to estimate an order of magnitude of the Mn-Mn exchange anisotropy energy. Keywords
