Abstract
The first report of the southwestern corn borer, Zeadiaitrea grandiosella (Dyar), in the United States was from Lakewood, New Mexico, in 1913; it has spread cast and north. It is now found in 14 States, with central Alabama and central Tennessee the most eastern points known to be infested. Counties reported infested for the first time in 1964 were: Mississippi 6, Alabama 11, Tennessee 9, and Illinois 4.
