POLYSACCHARIDE LEVELS OF FLUID AND PARTICULATE MICROBES

Abstract
Particulate and fluid rumen microorganisms were evaluated for changes in chemical composition as affected by time after feeding. In both populations nitrogen percentage decreased and polysaccharides increased soon after feeding. Particulate microoganisms had higher polysaccharides and lower nitrogen percentages (P < 0.05) than fluid microorganisms soon after feeding.
