Abstract
The nuclei of the pollen mother cells at premeiotic Interphase and of the young binucleate pollen grains of Tradescantia paludosa were labelled in growing plants with tritiated thymidine at concentrations of 20 μc/ml and 40 μc/ml respectively. By making use of a cotton wick inserted through the peduncle the radioactive precursors were fed into the buds of potted plants for 24 hr, after which the wick was removed and the buds allowed to develop for 2–5 days. Smears of the labelled pollen mother cells and pollen grains were stained and autoradiographed.
