CONTRIBUTION TO THE KNOWLEDGE OF STURGEON AND TROUT LABYRINTHS

Abstract
The appearance of the labyrinth, the interrelation between the right and the left labyrinth, the appearance of the otic capsule, the relation of labyrinth''s size compared to the size of the brain, the appearance of the labyrinth in relation to the size and form of heads, in 6 sturgeon heads and 6 trout heads taken at random were examined. The sturgeon labyrinth was elongated in backward-forward direction, while the trout labyrinth was fairly wide. The sturgeon ducts were found in individual cartilaginous cavities. The trout brain was fairly large and well differentiated when compared to the size of the skull and the size of the labyrinth.
