Abstract
Summary: In the course of an ultrastructural study of the anthracnose pathogen (Colletotrichum lindemuthianum) infecting hypocotyls of a susceptible cultivar of French bean (Phaseolus vulgaris), a chloroplast and other plant organdies were observed within the cytoplasm of a fungal hypha.The chloroplast retained its morphological integrity and was not enclosed by an extra membrane derived from either plant or fungus. It is possible that the plant organelles entered the fungus through a rupture in the hyphal wail and plasmalemma that permitted cytoplasmic continuity between host and pathogen.Keywords
