Abstract
Synopsis: The geographical distribution of the minerals kyanite, andalusite, chloritoid, staurolite, cordierite (and garnet) in the eastern Dalradian is discussed in the light of their pressure–temperature relations. It is established that major regional features of index mineral distribution, such as the westerly restrictions of the chloritoid zone, can be explained solely in terms of pressure–temperature variations. A close correspondence between the map and the pressure–temperature grid is illustrated, and the transitional nature of the boundary between the Buchan and Barrovian zonal sequences is emphasized. Keywords
