Clinical Variant of Lupus Erythematosus Resembling Multiple Sclerosis

Abstract
A clinical variant of lupus erythematosus was described in a 26-year-old woman in whom the clinical picture resembled multiple sclerosis. The CSF contained moderate pleocytosis with paretic colloidal curve and showed negative VDRL as well as TPI reactions. Antinuclear antibody, smooth muscle antibody, biologically false positive FTA, VDRL and negative TPI reactions were found in the serum. In addition, there was an accentuation of the IgM precipitation line in the immunoelectrophoresis of serum proteins. The clinical picture, remittent course and laboratory findings are suggestive of the diagnosis of lupoid sclerosis.
