Abstract
It is explained that the closed magnetic configuration is generated in the Z-pinch in a conductive casing provided that the axial current is over a critical value. By the formation of the closed configuration in the Z-pinch, the free-streaming end loss is automatically plugged. We call this type of Z-pinch the “neo-Z-pinch”. The electrode problem of the neo-Z-pinch with respect to impurity is also considered.
