A possible role of cholesterol in membrane adhesion

Abstract
CaPO4 induced membrane aggregation was studied for erythrocyte vesicles and lipid membrane vesicles. The later lipid membrane components were similar in composition to those of erythrocyte membranes. The amount of cholesterol is an important factor in the production of the CaPO4 dependent membrane aggregation.
