Abstract
Eight plant species were investigated as suitable food for the migratory grasshopper, Melanoplus sanguinipes (F.), by studying grasshopper preference, antibiosis, and tolerance of food plants. Three grasses—green needlegrass, bluebunch wheatgrass, and thickspike wheatgrass— were least preferred by adult grasshoppers, and the females of 4 generations that fed on them averaged low weight gains and laid the fewest egg pods. This publication has 1 reference indexed in Scilit:
