Abstract
Thirty-three [mu]c of carrier-free H3P32O4/kg body weight was injected into cats and rabbits. Radioactivity measurements were made on animals 4 hours after the administration of the tracer. The specific activity of P was measured in the cortical and cancellous parts of the shaft bone. The major effect of parathormone on bones in both cats and rabbits is to decrease the uptake of phosphates into the endosteal layer of the diaphyseal shaft. This effect of parathormone can also be observed in nephrectomized rabbits. Keywords
