Reduction of cogging torque in surfacemounted permanent magnet brushless motor based on Motorsolve

Abstract
This paper selects a surface-mounted permanent magnet brushless motor as the basic model, then changes the structure of stator and rotor, and simulates electromagnetic field distribution of the changed models by the electrical design and simulation software Motorsolve. By comparison with the cogging torque waveforms of different models, the effects on the cogging torque were obtained by analyzing different rotor structures of the surface-mounted permanent magnet brushless motor. The results can be used to guide the optimal design of permanent magnet brushless motor.
