Pion Production by 185-MeV Protons

We present distorted-wave Born-approximation calculations of the reaction ${}_{}{}^{12}{}_{}{}^{}\mathrm{C}(p, {\pi }^{+}){}_{}{}^{13}{}_{}{}^{}\mathrm{C}$ at $T_p=185\mathrm{}$ MeV. It is found that the production cross section to specific states in ${}_{}{}^{13}{}_{}{}^{}\mathrm{C}$ depends very sensitively on the pion-nucleus distorted-wave function.
