Stability of δ-Aminolevulinic Acid and Porphobilinogen in Urine Under Varying Conditions

Abstract
A study was made on the stability of δ-aminolevulinic acid and porphobilinogen in urine. Data are presented showing that both substances can be preserved in the same sample by adjusting the pH to 6-7 and storing at -20° for periods up to 1 month, or at 4° for periods up to 2 weeks. As previously shown (1), these conditions are also satisfactory for preservation of coproporphyrin.
