Abstract
Yttrium of the YBa2Cu3O y system is replaced by Gadolinium. Orthorhombic crystal structure and ratios of lattice constains are preserved, while lattice constants increase as the concentration of Gd becomes larger. After satisfactory annealing in oxygen atmosphere the superconcucting transition temperatures are independent of Gd concentration. Superconducting phase below T c shows large diamagnetic susceptibility and below 60 K superconducting fraction of the sample becomes 90% of nominal volume. Keywords
