Abstract
A device is described which may be added to an Instron tensile testing machine that allows cycling between stress limits rather than load limits. Changes in specimen length are used as an index of area change. Specimen extension, converted to an electrical signal, is used as a feedback signal which continually adjusts the calibration of the load control chart so that the stress limits are maintained constant throughout a test. Keywords
