Abstract
Tests were made with parathion, aldrin, dieldrin, toxaphene, heptachlor, lindane and chlordane for larvae in tobacco plant beds. Parathion was the most effective insecticide. It may be applied to the upper 2 inches of soil at 1-4 lbs. of 1% dust/100 sq. yrds.; added to the soil with the fertilizer prior to seeding; used as a surface spray; and as a dust in the spring after surface activity had occurred. No plant injury was noted in any test.
