Abstract
A brief summary is presented of the investigations carried out,"in the Dept. of Soil Microbiology of the New Jersey Agric. Expt. Station, Rutgers Univ., during the last 3 decades (1914-1944). It comprises studies of the nature and abundance of the fungus population, the relation of the soil fungi to the other groups of soil microorganisms, the biochem. activities of the fungi, their utilization in industrial fermentations and in the production of antibiotic substances, and their role in soil processes and in plant growth. This publication has 60 references indexed in Scilit:
