Abstract
Diethylene glycol distearate (DGD) is a synthetic wax that has been recommended as an embedding medium in light microscopy. With some samples of this wax, thin sections (0.5 to 2 .mu.m) of high quality can be cut at room temperature, showing little or no compression if a water trough is used. Unfortunately, materials sold as diethylene glycol distearate, or glycol stearate, differ widely in their purity and cutting properties, and some investigators may have abandoned this wax as an embedding medium because they obtained an unsuitable or inferior stock. Diethylene glycol distearate from several sources was compared. This publication has 1 reference indexed in Scilit:
