Abstract
In the present paper the lower jaw of the Triassic mammal or advanced therapsid Diarthrognathus broomi in which both the reptilian and mammalian jaw articulations were present is described. The probable arrangement of the jaw closing muscles and the stresses to which the jaw joints were subjected in this form are discussed. Keywords
