Abstract
Patients with lesions containing numerous Treponema pallidum were selected for study. Results on 25 cases are reported. Chloromycetin was admd. orally in variable dosage regimen from 120 mg./kg./day to 30 mg./kg./day. Treponema disappeared rapidly from.local lesions (approx. 22-26 hrs. after the beginning of treatment). The mechanism of lesion healing is descr. Quantitative serologic tests using the Eagle flocculation test for syphilis indicated a rapid decline in serologic titer in most cases at the end of one mo. following treatment. Toxic or untoward reactions were mild. Keywords
