Abstract
The heating effect in highly bent singlemode optical fibres under high power conditions was studied. It was found that heating of the coating depends on the bend radius and the type of telecommunication fibre used. The detected heating only occurred at bend diameters much smaller than that recommended for normal deployment. Keywords
