Abstract
We demonstrate for the first time the operation of a semiconductor repetitive opening switch. A semiconductor is maintained in a conductive state by illumination with a cw argon laser light. The opening of the switch is obtained by interrupting the light. A turn-off time of 1 ns has been achieved. Keywords
