Abstract
Transmission of a CO2 laser beam by single‐crystal CsBr fibers with losses of 0.3∼0.4 dB/m has been investigated. Transmission losses including the fiber losses and joint losses were less than 30% per meter. Using a 55‐W CO2 laser as a source power, a 47‐W continuous laser beam has been transmitted through 1‐mm‐diam fiber without any degradation of the fiber. Keywords
