Abstract
Ten plateaued 9 rats were maintained on a constant caloric intake of a diet containing 0% casein as the protein source. The admn. of 1 mg. of growth hormone/day produced a X retention of 15 mg./rat/day but no increase in body wt. When the diet was supplemented with 0(5 mg. of dl-methionine/rat/day the admn. of the same amt. of growth hormone produced a N retention of 39 mg. of N/ rat/day with an avg. increase in body wt. of 4 gs. for the 5 day exptl. period. Keywords
