Abstract
The paper shows it to be beneficial to regard the parallel-T as a bridge network and to evaluate its process of convergence to balance. First, new applications result as compared with that which the published literature would indicate is its only manner of use, namely a frequency-sensitive transmission network. Secondly, by considering the parallel-T in the immediate vicinity of its balanced condition and allowing each of its two balancing arms and the input frequency simultaneously a small deviation from their balance values, it is possible to present a unified yet simple treatment which embraces each of the individual applications as a special case. With regard to the use of the network in the feedback path of amplifiers it is shown that the unbalanced version of the parallel-T has distinct advantages. An analysis is presented indicating the importance of second- and third-order quantities on the value of the parallel-T minimum transmission factor in this connection; the effect of these latter quantities would appear to have been overlooked in other works on this subject. Keywords
