Abstract
Alfalfa was treated with lindane at 0.2 lb per acre 14 days prior to harvest and baling. The baled hay was fed to lactating cattle for a 3-week period initiated 3 weeks after harvest, and for a second equal period after 6 months of storage in a barn. Green forage, dried hay, and milk samples were periodically collected and analyzed for lindane residues. At the time of harvest the green alfalfa contained 1.33 ppm lindane on a dry-weight basis. Analysis revealed the presence of 0.53 and 0.46 ppm lindane in the milk during the first and second feeding periods, respectively. Keywords
