Abstract
Schools of social work are faced with numerous uncertainties that call for adaptation. Formal planning is a way of achieving conscious and collective decision making. This article reports a survey of the forms of planning currently employed in the schools. Styles of planning and results are associated with domains (public or private) and regions of the country. The influence of professional associations and the accreditation process are especially noteworthy.
