Thick-TargetO16(d,n)F17Yield Curves

Abstract
A thick-target method has been used to measure absolute differential cross sections for the reactions O16(d,n)F17 and O16(d,n)F17* (0.500 MeV) from 2.0 to 4.2 MeV. Excitation functions were taken at 20° intervals from 0-160° in the lab system. Satisfactory fits to the angular distributions required Legendre polynomials of order 6 or higher. The c.m. Legendre coefficients A0 and A1 are presented as a function of lab deuteron energy for the ground-state data. The total cross sections for production of ground-state and first-excited-state neutrons are also given as a function of energy.
