Abstract
Beams of and produce x rays, respectively, with 4% and 8% smaller yields per proton than a beam of kinetic energies between 90 and 150 keV/amu. These effects are accounted for quantitatively by the enhanced stopping power of Al for ions moving in tight clusters.
