Abstract
Evidence is presented from 13C n.m.r. spectroscopic studies which indicates that the enzymic transformation of porphobilinogen into uroporphyrinogens I and III occurs through a transient free intermediate, pre-uroporphyrinogen, produced by porphobilinogen deaminase (uroporphyrinogen I synthetase). Keywords
