Abstract
Synthesis methods, properties, and applications of a new series of microparticulate ion exchange silicas are discussed. Strong and weak cation and anion silicas have been prepared. These packings are stable from pH 2 to 9, are rigid, and have high exchange capacities (up to 2.2 meq.g−1). They are compared to classical resin-based materials. Similar separations are obtained but with greater speed since higher flow rates and pressures may be used.
