Abstract
SUMMARY: The notion of a hydrated, swollen, linear aggregation of extended β1 → 4 polyglucosans as a transient nascent phase in the biosynthesis of a bacterial cellulose microfibril from Acetobacter xylinum may be broadened to include cellulose biosynthesis by green plants, on the basis of present experimental evidence. This publication has 9 references indexed in Scilit:
